Revamping a Historic Building in Central City, Colorado
Project Description
We are excited to share with you a project that DMA has been diligently working on—a remarkable transformation that combines history, innovation, and community impact.
Nestled in the heart of Central City, Colorado, our team is revamping a historic building into a state-of-the-art four-story, 17-unit apartment complex. This endeavor is not just about construction; it’s about creating a welcoming space that addresses a critical need in the community—affordable housing for the dedicated workers of the bustling gambling town.
Project Highlights:
- Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF): This system will electrically heat the building, optimizing both the roof and equipment layouts within each apartment. By coupling multiple rooms to a single outdoor unit, we’ve not only simplified the design but also ensured a high level of comfort for the tenants and owner, all while minimizing energy consumption.
- Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV): This system will be used for bath fans and fresh air circulation. This addition ensures that occupants experience efficient heating and impeccable air quality.
- Community Space: The main floor of the building is designated for commercial use. Whether it’s a restaurant or retail space, this area will undoubtedly become a hub of activity and a gathering place for locals and visitors alike.
- Central Heating Plant Domestic Hot Water: We designed a central hot water plant per floor. This system will reduce energy from long runs of recirculating piping while providing adequate hot water for the tenants.
DMA’s role in this transformation was multifaceted. We are proud to provide Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing services that play an instrumental role in bringing this project to life. The fusion of history, innovation, and community betterment has been a driving force in this project, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact it will have on the lives of the residents and the surrounding area.
