Kestrel Community Center, Building A and C
Louisville, CO
Project Description
DMA participated in a multiple design team on the Kestrel project for the Boulder County Housing Authority. An important project goal was sustainability, with a final goal to be net zero once the solar photovoltaic system is installed.
To meet this challenge, we had to work in a team environment with other architectural, MEP, and energy consulting firms. Our buildings were unique in their functionality compared to the rest of the project buildings which required us communicate our needs with the rest of the design team.
DMA participated in an intense schematic design phase to determine the lighting, HVAC, and plumbing systems to meet the Energy Star Green Enterprise requirements along with the Housing Authority’s future net zero goal. Our designs focused on sensitive interior and exterior lighting using LEDs, Water Sense water fixtures, and ground source heat pump system coupled with energy recovery ventilator for fresh air requirements. We ultimately produced construction documents and provided ongoing construction administration to the buildings currently under construction.
