Energy Analysis: DMA Engineering uses the latest energy simulation software as the basis of our design and design recommendations. The energy simulation is the key to how the building will perform and ensures the equipment selected is the correct size and the most efficient.
Energy Audits: Energy audits of existing buildings identify areas that result in high energy consumption. First and foremost before a renewable energy system is installed the building has to be as efficient as possible. Our energy audits look at every aspect of the building from the ground up. We focus on the building envelope, occupants usage and comfort, and building equipment. Our deliverable is a report outlining current energy usage, prioritized recommendations on how to reduce you energy consumption, cost analysis, and payback schedules.
Design: DMA offers Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing design services. We use strategic engineering methods and computer software to deliver an efficient design and a high quality set of construction documents. Our design services include:
- Residential: ACCA Manual J and Manual D Calculations.
- Commercial: Trane’s TRACE 700 Building modeling software.
- Geothermal: Earth Energy Designer and in house finite difference methods.
- Solar Photovoltaic: Solar Pathfinder and in house methods for PV Plant design. Electrical design of standalone and grid tied systems.
- Solar Thermal: T*Sol and in house numerical integration techniques for modeling of storage tanks.
- Racking Design For Solar Panels: SolidWorks Simulation FEA package and accepted engineering practices for modeling of structural components for racking systems.
- Swimming Pools and Spas: Pool Filtration and Plumbing design. Pool heating load calculations and heating system design. Natatorium heating, cooling and dehumidification calculations and system design.
- Radiant: Floor, ceiling and wall designs for heating and cooling applications.
- Snowmelt Design: Snowmelt tubing and load calculations.
- Industrial System Design: Process, Instrumentation Diagram, plumbing layouts and building heating and cooling systems.
- Control Systems Design: Sequence of operations for BACNET or LONWorks systems. Programmable Logic Controller, PLC, design for in house designs.
- Duct Design
- Refrigeration System Design: We provide design service for custom refrigerators, walk in coolers and industrial refrigeration systems.
- Electrical: Power diagrams and panel schedules.
We have a full complement of in house and commercial software for use in heat transfer and fluid flow design. We use the latest AutoCAD for 2D and SolidWorks for 3D design enabling us to deliver highly accurate drawings.
Commissioning: An important last step in the process is the commissioning of the system. This process is important for the validation of the design, and construction of the system. Whether we commission our own design or act as a third party, we follow commission processes set by ASHRAE and the USGBC.
Economic Analysis: In order to choose the best system a full Life Cycle Analysis of the competing systems ensures the most financially attractive system is chosen. The most efficient system is not necessarily the most finically attractive solution. The life cycle analysis is also vital to the securing of financing for the project.
